In Overwatch 2, Brigitte is inspired by the tales of bravery she heard from her godfather, Reinhardt, and chooses to take up arms. This fierce support is more defensive than others in its class.
With powerful armor and her devastating Rocket Flail, you can often find Brigitte on the front lines supporting her tanks and protecting fellow support. While this can be daunting for some of the enemy heroes to contend with, Brigitte has had a couple of blows recently that make her less of a threat.
When Brigitte first joined Overwatch in 2017, she was a force to be reckoned with thanks to her body armor and shield that boast a lot of health. Unfortunately, it was also outplayed for its own good and upset many fans who played established heroes, like D.Va and Tracer, resulting in some leaving the game for good.
However, Brigitte has been reworked for Overwatch 2, with patches introduced to weaken her strength and health – and generally even the playing field. These changes mean the Brigitte isn’t quite as powerful as it was in 2017, but if you fancy a challenge, below you’ll find everything you need to know to tackle this tank hero.
Overwatch 2 Brigitte
Overwatch 2 Brigitte: Story and Background
Brigitte comes from the kings of Overwatch. Being the daughter of our favorite Swede TorbjornAnd She was able to pick up the Forging Art faster than most. But, unlike her father, she was not interested in weapons but instead in making armor.
Although Brigitte will continue her apprenticeship in her father’s workshop, the young soldier decides to follow her godfather Reinhardt into battle. During their travels together, Brigitte learned how to maintain Reinhardt’s armor as well as how to take care of its soldiers.
After encountering a deadly band called the Dragons, Brigitte has the shock of her life: Reinhardt nearly falls in battle. It was then that Brigitte decided to join the battlefield and learn to fight and repair her soldiers in the heat of battle.
After honing her skills, she and Reinhardt are called upon to join the Overwatch Recall and fight the Nationalists alongside many of our other heroes on the streets of Paris. In Overwatch 2, Brigitte is still with them trying to make the world a better place, one battle at a time.
Overwatch 2 Brigitte: Abilities
Primary fire: flail rocket
Describe: Melee weapon with extended range
Instead of wielding a gun like most other Overwatch heroes, in Overwatch 2, Brigitte chose the more brutal option. Relying on her combat weapon, Brigitte can strike heroes within a range of six meters. While she cannot hit enemies with this ability, the skill is fast, with one swing every 0.6 seconds.
Some tricks and tips for this weapon:
- This is a great ability to use to clear space or intimidate enemy DPS from the back lines.
- Using this skill is the best way to ensure healing for your team, thanks to Brigitte’s passive ability, Inspire.
Ability: Repair Pack
Describe: A projectile that can heal targeted allies for a short time
The repair pack heals 110 in 2 seconds. With a maximum range of up to 30 meters, this is a great way to get back allied DPS Heroes who are fighting in the enemy team’s back lines.
The best way to take advantage of this ability is to help your pelvis. Now there’s only one of these on your team in Overwatch 2, the enemy team often targets them first. It’s your job to keep them alive, whatever the cost. You have a total of three charges; If the same hero is cast multiple times, the duration will be increased by 2 seconds each time.
Some tricks and tips for this ability:
- The cooldown time for this ability is relatively long at six seconds, so this is an ability to save at the right moment.
- Using this in the heat of battle can be risky as when activated, there is a 0.25 second recovery period where Brigitte cannot attack in any way.
Ability: whip shot
Describe: Brigitte can throw her mirage from a long distance which deals damage and kills enemy heroes.
Whip Shot is a projectile and can therefore travel 20 meters at a rate of 80 meters per second. This is a sharp attack that can catch even the fastest DPS by surprise.
This ability is a great ability to use in environmental killing. This is when you use the map to finish someone off. While these usually push people into holes or off the side of the map, you can also push heroes into oncoming traffic on certain maps.
Some tricks and tips for this ability:
- You still can’t get a headshot with this skill, so it’s better to aim for the body.
- Whip Shot is a great ability to create distance between attacking enemies and allies with low health.
Ability: Barrier Shield
Describe: A front energy barrier that can absorb a limited amount of damage.
Think of this as a small Reinhardt shield. Not big enough to protect allies in Overwatch 2, Brigitte uses this to follow her tank into battle and keep herself protected. This shield is also great for momentary protection, as she is able to cast it instantly.
However, there is a downside to this ability. When using her shield, Brigitte’s movement speed decreases by 30%. This makes surrounding stoic support and dealing deathstroke very easy.
Some tricks and tips for this ability:
- The direction of its barrier shield can be changed by moving the crosshairs.
- The barrier is self-healing if you stay away from battles long enough, and regenerates 85 health after falling for 2 seconds.
Ability: Shield Bash
Describe: When the shield is deployed, Brigitte can dash forward and stun enemy heroes.
This ability is a great way to compensate for Brigitte’s horrific movement speed in Overwatch 2. After factoring in a 30% speed reduction to use her shield, her overall movement has increased by 470%.
While you can use this to escape threatening fights, Shield Bash is a great way to get aggressive. The reason Brigitte is so hated among Tracer, Genji, and D.Va players is that this skill can stun them long enough to either cancel the Dash/Rocket Boost, which is used for escaping, or to cancel incoming attacks. Either way, after being stunned, these characters usually die a quick death at the hands of the entire enemy team.
Some tricks and tips for this ability:
- You can use this ability through enemy barriers.
- Shield Bash ignores Genji’s reflection.
Passive Ability: Inspire
Describe: Dealing damage to enemies heals nearby allies
Inspiration is the only way for Brigitte to achieve consistent healing. Useful in the heat of battle, as long as she doesn’t stop swinging her mirage, her allies within a radius of 20 meters will recover.
Unfortunately, this ability doesn’t do enough healing as required, so it tends not to make much of a difference when you’re in very aggressive fights.
Some tricks and tips for this ability:
- It’s easy to get distracted by doing damage to enemies, also be sure to use healing abilities like the Repair Pack to help out your teammates.
- This treatment is applied over time, so allies do not need to be in a radius of 20 meters constantly.
Final: Rally
Describe: Brigitte moves faster and provides all nearby allies with extra health that lasts until enemy damage removes it.
Rally is best used when preparing to push off a massive attack or defend against an enemy attack at the last minute. In Overwatch 2, Brigitte gives 100 health to each ally within a radius of 8.5 meters, so it’s a good idea to group up first.
Although it may not seem like much, that extra healing can be the deciding factor in an all-out brawl.
Some tricks and tips for this ultimate goal:
- This is best used when allies are clustered around the payload.
- Make sure to tell your allies before using this; Communication is key.
Overwatch 2 Brigitte: gameplay breakdown
Brigitte has had a turbulent journey since her introduction to Overwatch in 2017. Beaten for her own good, this character has created an exodus from the game. Players became frustrated with her extremely powerful abilities and countermechanisms, meaning her personality would make it nearly impossible for heroes like Tracer, Genji, and D.Va to work.
It wasn’t until a few months later that Blizzard decided to correct her character and reduce her power. In Overwatch 2, Brigitte hasn’t seen the same levels of success since then. She can’t get a great deal of recovery, and she’s one of the worst supports when it comes to consistency.
Brigitte relied heavily on her tanks and shields in Overwatch, as she was designed to go the extra mile with them and drop off heals when needed. However, now that there is only one tank and one less protection in Overwatch 2, it is very easy to catch a Brigitte. They are not particularly fast or mobile, so without some enhanced protection Brigitte is often left vulnerable.
Its lack of speed also affects its growthability in Overwatch 2. Blizzards specifically designed the sequel to have more high-impact, shorter brawls taking place throughout their maps. This means that champions must be able to quickly engage and disengage. Unfortunately, this is not in Brigitte’s court.
