One of the most annoying things about Microsoft Excel can finally be over thanks to a new update from the company.
The spreadsheet program has announced that it’s working on a new feature that we hope will solve a big problem for Excel users who do repetitive tasks.
The new Office Scripts feature will allow users to record the actions performed in a spreadsheet, which can then be automated and repeated, potentially saving them hours of fiddling and frustration.

in its update entry (Opens in a new tab) In its official Microsoft 365 roadmap, the company notes that the update will allow Windows and Mac users alike to benefit from efficiency and increased productivity.
The tool was previously only available to Excel for the web users, and the company is now looking forward to bringing this initial success to more users around the world. He didn’t give too many details on whether any changes or upgrades will be made to the initial build, but hopefully we’ll see a demo soon.
The feature is still listed as “in development” for now, with a general availability date scheduled for March 2023, so users won’t have much longer to wait.
The news is the latest upgrade to Microsoft Excel as the company looks to ensure that its software remains useful and productive for users everywhere.
This includes a recent upgrade that introduced Formula Suggestions, which takes into account contextual data to suggest a few supported formats, including SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTA, MIN, and MAX. Microsoft hopes this will not only save users time, but will allow them to “learn more about Excel formulas as [they] use them.”
Elsewhere, a separate Excel update will allow the program to insert images directly into a cell, making them part of a worksheet for the first time, instead of just floating on top of the sheet. Microsoft says that this new functionality should make your Excel sheets more personalized and customizable, giving your work a whole new dimension.
