If you want to block a phone number and stop it calling or texting your iPhone, you’ll be happy to know that it’s very easy to do.
Nowadays, it’s very easy for bad actors to find phone numbers online, which means that spam text messages and calls are a regular scourge for even the best phones. There may be people you know that also need a permanent or temporary break.
To help keep these annoying interruptions to a minimum, we’ve written a quick guide to show you how to block intrusive numbers so you can use your smartphone with peace of mind. There are two methods you can use, so we’ve outlined both of them below.

Steps on how to block a number on iPhone
- Open the Contacts app and find the number you want to block
- Open the number profile
- Find the Block This Caller button and tap it
Step by Step Guide: Block Number from Contacts
1. Head to the Contacts app

First, you’ll want to Open your Contacts appwhich is the green tile with a white phone icon located by default in your iPhone’s home dock.
then Find the number you want to block. Depending on who you are blocking, it could be a number from your contacts or from your recent calls.
2. Open the number profile

If you are blocking someone from your contacts, simply Click on their name to open their contact profile.
If you are blocking someone from your recent calls list, Press the encircled “i” button to the right of the call log to open the contact’s profile.
3. Tap on Block This Caller

Scroll down a bit and you will see a button called Block this caller – Click this. It is worth noting that if you are blocking a contact with multiple phone numbers assigned to them, it will block all associated numbers from connecting to your iPhone.
This contact or individual caller will now be added to your block list. If you ever need to check the numbers on that list or unblock a caller, follow the first two steps of the next method.
Step by step guide: Block number from settings

If you also want to see a list of already blocked contacts, your best bet is to block a number Head to your iPhone’s Settings app. It should be noted that you will need to save the number you want to block first as a contact.
Scroll down to the fifth set of settings and menus Click on the phonewhich is located approximately in the middle of the list.
2. View your blocked contacts

Scroll down a bit So you get to the options set including Blocked Contacts – Click this.
You will then be taken to a list of any contacts you have already blocked. At the end of this menu, you will see an option for add new, Where you can block an existing contact from your saved contacts. Click on the name of the contact you want to blockAnd you’re all set.
From this menu, you can also edit to unblock numbers and contacts, should you need to.
