Formula E live stream: season preview
The gains in speed and maneuverability unleashed by the new Gen3 car make the 2023 Formula E season the most highly anticipated campaign since the series’ inception nine years ago. Stoffel Vandoorne is the defending champion, and only now, racing for the DS Penske, while the arrival of Maserati and McLaren makes this Formula E’s most competitive grid ever. Here’s how to watch the 2023 Formula E live stream no matter where you are in the world.
Nine different drivers stood on top of the podium last season, which culminated in a four horse race for the title. Vandoorne eventually dropped out of Mitch Evans, Edo Mortara and Jean-éric Vergne to claim his first championship, but the start of the Gen3 era, coupled with the departure of Mercedes-EQ’s Formula E, opened everything up.
In addition to being faster and more powerful than its predecessor, the Gen3 is more compact, lighter and more efficient, too. They tick all the right boxes, and what’s more, the ever-controversial Fanboost support has been discontinued, the timed race format has been replaced with fixed intervals, a trial quick recharge is scheduled for select races, and the introduction of mandatory pit stops in exchange for two additional chances to activate Attack Mode .
With 16 races, including five double GPs, scheduled to take place in 11 cities, follow our guide as we explain how to get a live 2023 Formula E stream from anywhere.

What is Formula E?
Formula E is a premium single-seater racing championship, exclusively for electric cars. Although it is governed by the FIA, which also runs the F1, F2 and F3 series, Formula E exists as its own class.
In terms of sheer speed alone, Formula E cars are comparable to F3 cars. The new Gen3 cars making their Formula E debut this season are capable of top speeds of 320 kph / 200 mph, just ahead of the 300 kph / 186 mph Formula 3 cars.
For more context, the F2 car’s top speed is around 335kph / 208mph, and the F1 car’s top speed is around 360kph / 223mph.
However, Formula E was not about pure racing speed.
It is one of the most important testing centers for the latest electric vehicle technology in the world, leading research and development in the emerging sector, and highlighting what the future may hold for electric vehicles in the mass market, particularly in terms of efficiency and charging.
Of course, it’s also very convincing as pure theatre, with the size, shape and mechanics of Formula E cars allowing for more close battles and easier overtaking than F1.
