The OnePlus 11 will launch globally on February 7, but it won’t be alone, because OnePlus has confirmed to TechRadar that the OnePlus Pad will launch alongside it. Even better — the company has shared with us the first image of the tablet, giving you our first official look at the slate.
You can see that image at the top of this article, where the company’s first tablet comes in Halo Green, which OnePlus claims “blends the vibrancy of life with the breadth of space.” There may be other colors available as well, but this is the only one we’ve been told.
The design of the OnePlus Pad includes an aluminum alloy body and a convex frame, which makes it comfortable to hold for long periods of time, according to OnePlus.
There’s a single-lens camera sticking out from behind in a centered position, which is apparently an ideal location for taking photos, since it’s more lined up with your view than it would be on the edge.
You can see that on the front there is also a single-lens camera, this time built into the bezel above the screen, along the top edge.
We don’t have a full render of the OnePlus Pad or any indication of the specs, other than the number of cameras, but from what we can see, it looks like this could be quite an attractive slate and one with a reasonably premium look.
The small number of cameras shouldn’t be a problem either, since tablets are the main device for a few people for taking photos or videos.
We’ll learn more about the OnePlus Pad soon, since February 7th is fast approaching, and with most OnePlus 11 details already known, this might actually be the most interesting element of the big launch event.
Analysis: A much needed new entry in the Android tablet market
While there are still plenty of questions about the OnePlus Pad, its mere existence is cause for celebration, as the Android tablet market is currently primarily dominated by Samsung at the top end and Amazon at the bottom.
Perhaps the OnePlus Pad offers a tempting choice between these two extremes – depending on the specifications and the price. Coming from OnePlus, there’s a good chance it’s competitively priced wherever it’s in the market, so it could end up making our best or best cheap tablets list.
