Automattic has expanded the availability of an advertising tool available for WordPress sites via Jetpack (Opens in a new tab) and WordPress.com (Opens in a new tab).
First introduced in April 2022 by Tumblr, the Blaze advertising tool now allows users to reach a wider audience, with an estimated 13.5 billion impressions per month across hundreds of millions of WordPress.com sites and Tumblr pages.
Available now, the tool allows anyone with a WordPress blog to advertise on their WordPress.com website builder (Opens in a new tab) and Tumblr by Blaze.

The tool allows users to turn existing content into ads that can run across Automattic Network’s portfolio, which includes millions of blogs.
“At WordPress.com, we’re always looking for ways to make building and running a website simpler, more impactful, and more fun,” Automattic said in a blog post.
“One of the biggest challenges for any site owner is finding readers, fans, clients, or subscribers. Yet, promoting your WordPress.com site requires multiple tools, online accounts, professional design and marketing skills, and — yes — a lot of the money “.
Similar to Instagram and Facebook ads, websites hosted on WordPress.com can use the tool through the Ads section of the dashboard, where a list of users’ recent posts and pages is available to promote.
Another feature of the tool that is similar to Instagram and Facebook Ads includes the ability to adjust settings to choose a specific target audience (specific geographic and industry) for paid ads to hit.
For WordPress sites not hosted on WordPress.com, users can use the Blaze ad tool via the Jetpack plugin.
In addition, ad campaigns are billed weekly based on the number of times users want their ads to be shown. Currently, the feature is only available for sites that have “English” set as their primary language, but Automattic says it’s working on bringing other languages in the future.
