France had always been favorites to beat Morocco in the second semi-final on Wednesday night, but the Atlas Lions – the first African team to reach this stage of the tournament – did not make it easy for the defending champions. Theo Hernandez gave France the lead with a sporty finish after just five minutes, and Morocco pressed hard to equalise, but a 79th-minute Randall Kolo-Mwane goal, after an excellent work in the penalty area by Kylian Mbappe, secured France’s meeting.
